Have you ever thought about being a Toronto film extra? With Toronto’s booming film industry, now is an especially good time to earn some money on the side by enlisting your presence in big-budget movies.

So what are some of the pros to becoming a film extra? There are several reasons why it might be a good idea for you. Here a few of them.

• You don’t need any special skills, just the right personality traits and attitude: patience, the ability to arrive on time (every time), and a capacity to listen well and follow directions. In addition, the work doesn’t require any particularly strenuous amount of effort – much of the time, you’re just waiting around as the set is re-arranged. So there’s plenty of “downtime” while you’re still getting paid for the hours you’re on set.

• If you want to make extra money while maintaining a flexible schedule, then it’s a good idea to become a Toronto film extra. When you’re signed on with an extras casting agency (or several of them), you aren’t required to take up every casting they send you. So you can choose just the ones that meet your schedule and time constraints. Word of advice, though: once you DO take up an extras job they send you, don’t drop it or fail to show up! Casting agencies want extras who are super reliable, and if you fail to live up to your promises, then they might not send you very much work anymore.

• We have to mention this as one of the “pros,” of course – every now and then, you might get the chance to see and meet top actors and directors. And if you have aspirations of becoming an actor, then being on set is an invaluable way to closely watch some of the best actors in the world at work. One more piece of advice: don’t get frantic in your attempts to talk with the actors. Only talk with them if they first initiate a conversation with you.
